Is Child Abuse / Trafficking Only A Worry If You Are Under Threat?
I watched this video (which I will link at the bottom of the article), called The Eyes Of The Devil, in which Patryk Vega speaks with a child trafficker, amongst a few other people. The faces of all in the video, were obscured for their anonymity. Sometimes to extract information, you have to make these deals, and I feel this was what gave this interview an edge above a lot of others in this situation. I was horrified by the content of this video. I do not think I will ever forget the feelings I had during this interview.
To summarize this most gut-wrenching documentary, it was an interview with a child trafficker and a few other people including a potential supplier. I will not speak on the actual content of this video. As it is not needed for this article. However, one point is important to put across at this juncture. One of the main things that concerned me, is that he said, “Kidnapping is far too high risk.” Meaning that they won’t usually kidnap children, due to the high risk, and tons of attention on the fact. This could mean several things. Actually impregnating people, and using that child for trafficking and paying the mother large sums of money – often actually ending up with the mother being short changed or forgotten about altogether. Or buying a women’s independent baby, before it’s born. These options are highly difficult to get out of, and are highly organised. I, very much doubt, anyone would want to go back on the agreement. However, if they do, they HAVE to trade someone else in. Child or adult, it does matter. Lives no more than merchandise.
As painful as it was to watch, I learned some very interesting things, I also realised very quickly that I was questioning a lot of things now.
A question occurred to me, does child abuse and trafficking, only matter if your family are under threat. But what if the threat of child trafficking being only kids that are literally born to traffic? Do we feel too intimidated by the darkness or the inability to really do anything about it?
To make it very clear, I have extremely strong feelings for child abuse and especially sexual exploitation, and I would love to be involved in making this problem reduce as much as we can. In order to do that, we must learn, and be aware of signs when we see them. So I began researching. It’s very hard but I found out some great information on the way.
We don’t have to feel we can’t do anything from here. We can and this is how.
